I Haven’t Left Yet – Wrapping Two Gifts from One Large Brown Shopping Bag

12.19.2008

Since I finished packing for vacation, I have allowed myself to blog one more time before I leave for Disney World!  Before I packed my gifts I had to wrap them.  This is where you learn my dirty little secret: I am cheap when it comes to gift wrap.  I love beautiful gift wrap.  I ogle and drool over luxurious papers in the shop, but I can never bring myself to pay for it.  This year I did not buy any gift wrap.  I had odds and ends from years past and when I ran out, I grabbed an old Whole Foods shopping bag from my recycling bin and wrapped two pressies for my mom.

First I cut the two large sides and wrapped the two gifts.

Then I decided to take the two handles and turn them into bows using a small piece of double sided tape to join the crossed midsection.

I used rubber stamps to decorate the bows.

Don’t the look festive?!

I then decided to use more alphabet stamps on the package

One gift is from me and Dave and one from Wee-One.

Not only did this cost me nothing (I had all of the supplies at home) the gift wrap is cute, personalized, and I think my mom will love it. My bag was already 100% recycled paper. Now it has been recycled again. Maybe my mom will make a kite with it!

Happy Holidays!

Just beautiful ! Better than a lot of the pricy stuff even ! How I admire your creative and crafty solution ! Last year’s Dollar store gift bags will have to do for my gang, though ! Not nearly as pretty as your artsy ones but at least they are a bit GREEN !
May your holiday be filled with magical and creative moment !
